Irwin Mitchell Abogados has recently sponsored the first International Congress in Málaga on Internet Law. The congress took place on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th April at Málaga University and was attended by over 100 businesses, as well as representatives from central and Andalucían governments.
Managing partner of the Spanish office, Jose Maria de Lorenzo, spoke at the opening of the event. Joanne Bone, Partner from Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office in the UK, also delivered a presentation on the directive of the application of websites for companies. Other speakers included members from the university and the media.
Federico Perez, Head of the Corporate Department and Gustavo Calzado Head of the Litigation Department from the Málaga office took part in the round table discussions on freedom and control of communication on the internet and current news and issues surrounding the internet.
The minister from the central government of telecomunication gave the closing speach and after Jose Maria had the opportunity to have lunch with him.
Despite the bad weather the conference was well attended and received national coverage. The congress was broadcasted via Twitter and live updates were available on La Opinion de Málaga’s website, one of Málaga’s most established publications.
Those who attended the event enjoyed a cocktail lunch on Thursday afternoon, where they had the opportunity to relax and network with other companies from the Málaga region.
